Oregon

I recently traveled to Portland, Oregon to visit my friends Tom & Louie. Tom is a Portland resident of three years now. He lives up there with his fiancé Beckah. Tom and I grew up in Huntington together. Louie on the other hand was up in Portland from LA for a job. A Harbor Freight x Jeep commercial that was taking place somewhere out near Bend, OG. Louie was going to be on the job for a whole week and that would include his 30th birthday. I coordinated with Tom in secret so that I could surprise Louie with my presence. It all went according to plan (mostly!)

I didn’t spend too much time taking pictures. I did more filming on my 14 year old Sanyo camcorder. I recently uncovered this thing at my Dad’s house and I’ve been using it more this summer. It’s nostalgic.

I had one day of solitude which I spent walking from Tom’s house in NE Portland to Washington Park in NW Portland. I took most of these pics during this time. The walk there and some hiking in the park came out to roughly 16 miles. My feet hurt at the end of the day so I rented a scooter for the last leg of journey home.

Tom and his kitten, Jet.

Cute as a button. He took the stinkiest shit I’ve ever smelled in my life. Worse than anything. Honestly devastating. Good boy tho.

Portland is cool! It’s small but not too small. The suburbs are ridiculously quaint. The weather was astonishingly perfect (for me) with the conditions being dry as can be and a consistent 80ºf-90ºf. The city is calm on a weekend but there is plenty to do. They have a trolly system in the city. I didn’t require it, or at least I didn't choose to use it, but it looked very Portland.

It’s a bus, it’s a train, no, it’s a trolly!!

The trash cans are seen overflowing through the city but that is only because they have infrequent trash pick-ups. It’s an eco-friendly thing, it just leaves some cans looking apocalyptic as people transition into creating less waste.

The trees are wonderful up here. So tall everywhere you go. It makes me feel very small, in a good way. It’s a humbling nature.

While in the park I saw the Hoyt Arboretum and the International Rose Test Garden. I also paid my respects at the parks Holocaust Memorial.

I’ll definitely be back! I didn’t get to see any of its majestic nature this time around. I would love to hike around Mt. Hood and see the beaches there. Until next time. . .
